Earth has seasons because of its axial tilt. As Earth orbits the Sun, the northern and southern hemispheres alternately tilt toward the Sun.
The hemisphere tilted toward the Sun has more hours of daylight. Days with more hours of daylight have more hours to warm up. They also have fewer nighttime hours to cool down. The Sun is also higher in the sky during the months the hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun. When the Sun is higher in the sky, the rays strike the Earth more directly. Direct sunlight warms the air more than indirect sunlight. So, the hemisphere tilted toward the
